Judy Manning (tv.com): “If you aren’t watching, you are seriously missing out on a terrific show! Life Unexpected is funny, smart, full of delightful chaos, and the chemistry is off the charts! I love this show!”
Review: Life Unexpected – s01e06 – Truth Unrevealed
The first thing you wake up to is your fiancé kissing you = nice. The second thing you do is walk-in on your baby-daddy (who by the way is not your fiancé) taking a leak in your bathroom = drama! That’s how Cate woke up. Ryan kissing her good morning then she runs to bathroom to take care of morning breath only to find Baze standing over her toilet! Now that’s a wake up call!

TV Review: LIFE UNEXPECTED – SEASON ONE – ‘Truth Unrevealed’
The CW took a risk with LIFE UNEXPECTED, and it continues to show promise with its latest episode “Truth Unrevealed.” [...]The show and relationships are still fun and Robertson is always a treat to watch. I just wish that the writing hadn’t been so bleeding obvious. Parallel plotting can work, but it just seemed convenient in this case.
‘Life Unexpected’ – ‘Truth Unrevealed’ Recap
Nothing ruins a good episode like fifteen minutes of maudlin weeping. After a brisk 45 minutes of ‘Three’s Company’-style hijinks, wherein Baze invades Cate & Ryan’s perfect life, the tension between Ryan/Cate/Baze comes to a grinding halt when everyone starts exploring their feelings. Not to sound too cynical, but why should every episode end with a very touching moment, complete with soft singer/songwriter acoustic guitar music in the background?
There’s nothing compelling, interesting or even vaguely original about that. And as a viewer, all these cues let you know one thing: there’s some serious scenery chewing coming up.

Life Unexpected Review: “Truth Unrevealed”
It was very interesting to watch the similarities between Cate and Lux in “Truth Unrevealed” – and not to knock moms across the world, but how funny and true was the whole – “do as I say, not as I do” situation.Cate herself told Lux that no true relationship can be built on a lie. And if the truth leads to that person leaving you maybe it is for the best that you are not with them in the first place. She was right on the money with all of that, but why was she so unable to use her own words of wisdom? [...]
‘Life Unexpected’: Cate lies to Ryan
The “Life Unexpected” love triangle rears its ugly head again as Ryan confronts Cate about her true relationship with Baze. Oh, the tangled web we weave.Cate and Ryan’s show is on the ropes a bit, which causes them to get a visit from their corporate boss, Trina. Trina doesn’t so much like Cate and her confusing love triangle of doom, citing it as confusing to the listeners. Their solution? To invite Baze to be a guest on the show to clear things up. Ha! That’s pretty much my favorite idea ever. [...]
Cate and Baze Come to a Boil on Life Unexpected
It’s hard to pick a highlight from an episode of Life Unexpected that was so solid. I nestled down to watch “Truth Unrevealed” with no distractions but a Diet Coke and cherry strudel thingy (that’s the official name). I love when they mentioned Prison Break (since that show is aaaawesome), loved Baze on the radio, loved Ryan standing up for himself, loved mention of “turtle thing” from last week, the description of Baze’s coffee order, Cate and Lux’s hair in general, pie charts of Cate’s likability… everything! [...]
Life Unexpected: Preview of Episode 6 “Truth Unrevealed”
Life Unexpected creator Liz Tigelaar promises that “Truth Unrevealed” is a special episode where a lot of things “come to a head” – which is a treat, seeing that most Life Unexpected viewers and critics alike have grown tired of the whole formula of Lux (Brittany Robertson) doing something stupid, only to be topped by Cate (Shiri Appleby) doing something stupid for a mother, then the two reconciling. Sometimes, replace Cate with Baze (Kristoffer Polaha) and you get the show’s first five episodes. [...]
Life Unexpected: Truth Hurts
The folks on Life Unexpected got an object lesson in truth-telling this week — and it didn’t work out so well for Lux. Of course, NOT telling the truth will inevitably come back to bite you in the butt, so we’re guessing Cate and Baze’s problems are far from over…But what’s the real truth? Take our true-or-false quiz and tell us what YOU think: [...]
Life Unexpected, ‘Truth Unrevealed’: Baze on the radio
Okay, they’re getting there. Definitely getting there. That’s a couple of episodes in a row completely free of Pilot-itis, and Baze being obnoxious on Ryan and Cate’s show was a blast. And even though I unsurprisingly like the adult characters more than the teens – and even though I could see every beat of this particular story coming way in advance – I felt engaged throughout by the Lux/Jones/Bug triangle. On the other hand, Cate’s late visit to Lux’s story was the only part of the episode where I liked her at all. [...]

‘Life Unexpected’ Recap: Cate, Noooo!
On tonight’s episode of Life Unexpected, there were lying, deception, and a boyfriend calling his girlfriend damaged goods. If that is not breakup fodder, I don’t know what is.First of all, notice how good Life Unexpected gets when Lux’s (Britt Robertson) contact with Cate (Shiri Appleby) is reduced to a bare minimum? It bears mentioning, though, that their little mother-daughter talks in Lux’s bed always, always brings out something brilliant, a realization at times, or the glaring irony of things (like Lux telling her mom, “What should I have done? Lied so he would stay?”). [...]
Now that’s a wake up call!Ryan’s not too happy with all the ‘Baze’ action going on in Cate’s house…he’s been hanging out with Lux and crashing at Cate’s more frequently and he is not liking it one bit. He tells Cate they need “less Baze in our lives”. Easier said than done. [...]
‘Life Unexpected’: So many boys, so little time
Well, I’ve ruled out morning radio jockey as a possible career change after seeing that Cate (Shiri Appleby) and Ryan (Kerr Smith) have to wake up at 4:45 a.m. There’s not even morning sex in it for Ryan because Cate won’t have morning sex until she gets rid of her morning breath. Too bad her bathroom’s been invaded by Baze (Kristoffer Polaha), who is suddenly everywhere in Cate’s life. He’s been sleeping over after hanging out with Lux – awww – and falling asleep on Cate’s couch. He’s even helped himself to Cate’s kitchen. Ryan is none too happy and requests “less Baze in our lives.” [...]
